Gothic (revival) The Gothic style of architecture was developed in the late 12th century AD, and is characterised by the use of pointed windows. It continued to develop until the 16th century. A few Gothic churches were built in the 17th and early 18th centuries. The style was revived - 'Gothic Revival' - in the early 19th century, and continued in use until the 1950s.
