Breaking the Ice

Hello!

My name is Andy Strachan.  I am Clerk to the Clerk to the Congregational Board or Dysart Kirk and also coordinator of the Renovations Committee.  We are currently carrying out renovations and repairs to our building costing about £340K.

The work includes building repairs, mostly to remedy the ravages of  time and to correct historical repairs that are causing problems e.g. use of cement instead of lime mortar; insulation blocking airflow ventilation and causing damp.  Additionally we are improving our disabled access facilties with anew entrance, new wheelchair area, improved lighting and visual amenity and heating.  And just to complicate it all even further we have only recently finished recovering and partially restoing four panels of a Charles Rennie Macintosh mural round the walls that had been overpainted.

Obviously this has involved massive fundraising but we have been working hard and there is light out there.  My previous experience of fundraising however leads me to know that the last lump is always the hardest.  So if anyone has any new or unusual ideas, or knows of possible Grant Funders not listed elsewhere on this site I would be very grateful.

Hope to hear from others soon.

God bless

Andy
